Quartz is a mineral composed of silicon and oxygen. After feldspar, quartz is the most abundant mineral found in the Earth's crust. Varieties of quartz were commonly used in hardstone carvings around Eurasia. Pure quartz is commonly called rock crystal or clear quartz and is usually colorless and transparent. Other shades of quartz may occur in blues, purples, cytrines, rose and more. Quartz provides the look of granite with a more consistent pattern making it a great choice for large projects where more than one slab is needed. This material is 93% natural and mixed with natural quartz pigments and resins. Because it is manufactured, the surfaces are non-porous and therefore, do not need to be sealed. Quartz countertops are durable, very hard, scratch and stain resistant resulting in minimal upkeep and maintenance. These materials are even harder than granite and marble, and most come with a warranty.

To care for your quartz surface, all you need to do is wipe spills and stains with soap and warm water. With these man-made surfaces, you are sure to get the look of natural stone with less upkeep and even greater durability.
