Dekton is a sintered surface made up of a combination of raw materials, the same used in glass, porcelain and quartz surfaces.
Dekton by Cosentino uses exclusive Sinterized Particle Technology. It’s a high-tech process which mimics the metamorphic change that natural stone undergoes when subjected to high temperatures and pressure over thousands of years. This combination of raw materials that make up Dekton is also used in porcelain, glass and quartz surfaces. The slabs come in three different thicknesses depending on application requirements. Thanks to this, the size and lightness makes them suitable for a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications, including countertops, vanities, flooring, walkways, and driveways. The surfaces also come in many different collections including natural looking colors, solid and glossy colors and even wild designs.
The manufacturing process involved in creating the slabs results in a product with zero porosity. Therefore, it doesn’t ever need to be sealed. In addition, the slabs are scratch, stain, heat and cold resistant. It is suitable for outdoor projects because it’s highly UV resistant. The material won’t fade or degrade over time when exposed to UV light. It is also resistant to ice and freezing, making it suitable for colder climates too. Unlike quartz, sintered surfaces are heat resistant so hot pots can be placed directly on the surface without worry of damage. These sintered surfaces are also even harder than granite which shows the dedication to withstand abrasion. The finish will last a lifetime and never need to be re-touched.
