The Black Granite Comeback

Black granite was a staple in the 90s, but recently white marble has been all the rage. Before the Carrara craze, the coarse-grained black stone was the go-to design for any style and is now making a comeback. The black countertops of today are as timeless as white marble and lend themselves to any design style, from traditional to modern and even minimalist.

If you’re still on the fence about bringing back black granite, you can start by mixing it up. Incorporating natural wood and creamy cabinets eliminates the fear of the black “wearing down” the space. You can also opt for a leather finish that leaves a slightly matte appearance as opposed to polished or pick an option with veins to mimic marble. Not only is a leather finish great for dark granites, but it also works with any stone and is certainly making a name for itself in 2022. It’s great at hiding stains and everyday wear and tear. Black countertops can add contrast to an otherwise all-white space or a sense of drama and moodiness when paired with other dark tones.
