It Starts With a Vision
This customer came to us needing a full kitchen remodel. In addition to a new look and feel, they wanted to make the kitchen more open and functional which involved removing a wall dividing the kitchen and dining room (see below photo), and turning that side into a peninsula.
The Design
After our initial consultation to discuss the client’s vision and material options, we started on the design using our 2020 kitchen and bathroom design software which allows us to create a 3D visual rendering of what their new kitchen will look like.
We worked closely with the customer and listened to their needs and vision for the space. Before starting work, we presented the design and discussed any changes before starting construction.
Choosing The Right Materials
The material selection can be overwhelming for some customers so we always recommend starting with the cabinets which we’ll center the rest of the materials and accessories around.
In the case of this remodel, we used Showplace Wood Products for the cabinetry, including the wood refrigerator panel doors which was a specific request from the customer.
After the cabinets have been selected, we recommend tile, granite, and plumbing companies we use for the rest of the materials. We also suggest some online sites that we trust and have accounts with as well, such as Build.com, Wayfair.com and Houzz.com.
We replaced the existing tile countertops with gorgeous Cristallo Tiffany Quartzite that were purchased through Pacific Shore Stones located in Arroyo Grande, CA. They added a fresh look to the kitchen, or in the customer's own words “I feel like I’m in a beach house.”
We removed the upper cabinets from the cooktop side, which allowed us to open the space even more - it helped make the room so much brighter!
We replaced all cabinetry with one of our custom cabinet lines, and added fantastic accessories which made the kitchen more practical.
We used a beautiful glass subway tile for the backsplash, which complimented - not competed with the countertop.
In the above photo we can see cabinets above the original peninsula. Removing those cabinets was key to making the space brighter and more open.
We can also see the original tile countertops which were replaced with the beautiful Cristallo Tiffany Quartzite slab from Pacific Shores Stones.
Conclusion
The entire project took our team of craftsmen about eight weeks to complete which roughly translates to 550 man hours.
At New Life Bath & Kitchen, we believe in providing incredible customer service which includes frequent communication. Every morning the lead Foreman would discuss the plan for that day with the customers, and would touch base again at the end of the day to report on what they did, and what needed to be done the next day. We call this the “Daily Double.”
As I’m sure you’ll agree, the customer’s new kitchen (and kitchen countertops) are absolutely stunning!
