When we heard about the good work that the non-profit organization Operation Finally Home carries out, we knew we had to get involved. The organization works to provide custom-made, mortgage-free homes to wounded and disabled veterans and the widows of the fallen, in an effort to get their lives back on track.
Partners Marco Pereira and Vinny Tavares believe that corporate social responsibility is very important, and building a strong connection to the community that supports the business is a key part of their philosophy.
Partner Vinny Tavares attended the groundbreaking ceremony on October 17 at a plot for a house for wounded war veteran Augustine Pena, in Jonestown, near Austin, Texas. Augustine is a paraplegic so the house will be customized especially for his needs. Many people who are donating material, time, money or labor to the project attended, and the ceremony was led by Texas Governor, Rick Perry.
Following the ceremony, participants enjoyed lunch and the chance to meet each other. Vinny said afterwards: ”I was overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone involved and feel very proud for Pacific Shore Stones to be a part of it.”
Work on the house is starting right away and the slabs should be in place by December, watch this space for more details and the handover ceremony!
